Syd-Tip of the Month
What to do with excess Halloween candy?
Whether you have children of trick-or-treating age, you love participating in your neighborhood’s Halloween festivities, or you simply want to avoid waking up the morning after all Hallows Eve with a yard full of smashed pumpkins and toilet paper retaliation, there will always be the dilemma of left over Halloween candy and what on earth to do with it. This year, the Sydkik’s suggest taking a different approach to storing these fun-sized Halloween treasures. The first thing to keep in mind is safety, with most chocolate having an average shelf life of 6 months, keeping Halloween candy in the fridge keeps it safer for consumption.  Parents can turn a potential sugar rush into a healthier snack option for the kids by spreading celery stalks with cream cheese or peanut butter and topping off with M&M’s, or create their very own trail mix by adding pretzels, nuts, dried fruit, and of course the packets of candy together and giving the mix a good stir or shake!Speaking of shaking and stirring, who knew that Halloween candy could pair so well with a good cocktail? The cookie and chocolate combination of a Twix bar tastes great with a smooth scotch, pure chocolate bars are sensational with a bold, fruity Zinfandel, and candy corn, believe it or not, is complemented by champagne!  Create an impressive, custom alcoholic beverage for all those upcoming holiday parties by dropping candies of your choice in a bottle of vodka and letting it marinate.

Donating the candy to less fortunate children or overseas to our troops, through organizations like Operation Shoebox, can be another way to rid your household of excess Halloween candy and get you in the giving spirit of the Holidays all at the same time!

SYDKIK OF THE MONTH
Pepper Potts
Virginia “Pepper” Potts was Iron Man’s Sydkik well before he discovered his supernatural abilities. She started out as a member of the secretarial staff at Stark Industries, but after catching and fixing an accounting mistake that saved the company’s bottom line, she was promoted to executive assistant. Once Tony Stark succeeded his father in taking over the family business, he quickly realized her immense value and made her both his personal assistant and an executive at Stark Industries.Pepper takes care of Tony Stark’s personal and social life in addition to making key executive decisions on his behalf and in his absence. She has the uncanny ability of balancing and managing every aspect of who Tony Stark is; an even more impressive feat once Stark becomes Iron Man and assumes even more dire roles and responsibilities.  Pepper is organized, cool under pressure, intelligent, discrete, trustworthy, and extremely business savvy; she is everything a superhero could want in a Sydkik.
